Default Stroker?

Well guys, I've been toying with the idea of doing a 98 Mustang GT project car and and I was wondering if I would be able to purchase a 427 for the Mustang or would I need to build one? I think a Daytona blue 98 GT with white racing stripes and a 427 in it would be awesome. Any advice? What block would I need? Is this a waste of time? I just like the idea of making 500rwhp without having to really squeeze everything out of the motor and the best way to do that is by adding cubic inches, no replacement for displacement. Now, I've never really been a Ford guy (so I know almost nothing about them) but the 98 body style is a design that I think is amazing with the right wheel and tire combo on it. Do you guys know of companies on here that will build custom motors? Oh and what's the deal with these V8's? Are they OHC or pushrod? Ah, and I read somewhere that increasing stroke is a waste of time on these motors and adding cubes is the only way to go. Any truth to this? Okay, now that I've asked enough questions, I'll wrap it up.

TIA!

We have SOHC and DOHC. 2v and 4v.

www.modularmustangracing.com - mmr

www.modularpowerhouse.com - mph

Both motor building companies....

Good choice on the 98 body style.

Thanks! Do you think that a 427 would be a good idea or is there a better setup that I'm not seeing? I don't want to run forced induction on this motor either.

I would love to run a 427... If I had the money. Well, theres a lot of stuffI would do if I had the money. I'm not sure about fitment and all that stuff...
Is it going to be a carbed motor or FI?

good idea but bad car to build it on...
if you wanted a big engine in a mustang should use an older one so you dont have to worry about smog + the engine mounting and wiring will be difficult.

if your using that 97 body style, probably best engine to drop in that for all engine would be a 5.4L 4v similar to shelby but all N/A.
they do make 5.4L stroked to 5.8L, dont know the price but should be around 10k range for a long block?
the2 links above are both good builders, id suggest you check locally and see if there is a mustang speicialist closer to you so that you can have a custom order with warrenty and installation..
good luck

MMR makes a 5.8L 351R block that will make 5.8L with a stock 5.4 crank. but if you stroke it, you can probably get more than 5.8L outta it. that is the motor i plan on building and taking it out as far as i can possibly go. 7.0L stroker comin through!!!(in about 10 years or so...)

The motor will be fuel injected. I really don't want to run this motor in an older mustang, the older body styles do nothing for me because everyone mods them. I have hook ups for inspections and stuff so that doesn't worry me any either. I really want a blue 98 GT with white stripes and a 427, I can see it now....

The only problem with the 427 if you want to go fuel injected is the wiring harness and ECU.
