Post LT install problems, in shop, can someone answer this?
Ok so I had my long tubes and midpipe (both BBK) installed 2 weeks ago at a reputable shop. Yesterday I felt very light brake pedal vibration, nothing I was worrying about. Today I was on my way to the mall and started hearing whining in my steering, then when I got to a stop and pressed the brake I had a lot of resistance and a ton of whining, lost power steering after another 10 minutes of driving (slowly went down). Went home, went to put more steering fluid in and it came leaking out. So I know there's a leak in the steering fluid lines somewhere but would this cause the serious brake pedal resistance as well? I'm dropping the car off in the shop tomorrow morning just so they can get that fixed, anything else potentially wrong? Thanks in advance for any responses
Well our cars use a hydroboost setup.. No vacuum boost, its run off the PS pump. Did the shop drop your K-member? Remove the rack or remove the line off the rack? It is possible that the shop that did the LT install is NOT at fault.. Cars break...Its part of owning a vehicle. Can you pin-point where the leak is? The pump has one hard line threaded in by the pulley underneath an d right next to that there is a rubber line with a hose clamp. Those tend to leak a lot.If you cant verify it, take it back to the shop, ut dont put the blame on them because it might not be their fault...
Yeah the shop dropped the k-member and the steering rack so I could only assume it was caused by them, but I could be mistaken. I haven't been out to check my car again, but it's the line right beneath the steering fluid tank. It wasn't just leaking, it was pouring out of the line. So still I'm wondering, is the whine and rough brake issue linked to this?
