Default ignition keys

Hi guys, i went to make some spair keys today and the guy at ACE hardware told me that the mustang keys have a electronic signal in each key that tells the ignition that its a mustang key. Now i see on ebay that people are selling ford mustang key blanks for my year, my question is, are all the electronic singals the same (so these blanks will work in my ignition and not just the doors).
hoe someone has already came across this road already, thanks.

You can buy the blank keys off of ebay, but you are still going to have to take your keys to a Ford dealership and have them code your key to your car for the PATS.

I just had a spare ignition key made last week. I went to one Ford dealer and they wanted $100! Sooo, I walked out and went to the only other local Ford dealer on the other side of town and they wanted $76. I had to settle for a $76 key![:@] ...a little rediculous, but whatever, done and over with lol

If you have a Walmart close to you, you can get the exact key from them. They will cut and code it to PATS for $48 total.

Not by "splicing wires or something", however some tuners will let you disable the PATS (the Sniper Special Forces can do this). I also read of someone who taped a key to the PATS antenna which surrounds the lock cylinder, insode of the steering column surround.Any decent local locksmith will supply. cut, and program a key for $50 or so. Fluke Instruments makes a programmer that has multiple personality modules for different cars, most locksmiths have one.
