to keep pulling and go into 5th gear while racing if u have an FI car? I like to shut down at around 130ish when racing but im the only one outta my buddies that has gears and has to shift to 5th around 115.

so will i blow my motor or something?

 

why you need to race up to that speed?

 

5th gear is really more of an over drive gear. You can still go WOT, as long as you have sufficient cooling. The only reason people say it's bad is because you spend alot more time in boost, which creates alot of heat, and increases the chance of detonation. that happens, and yeah, you will blow your engine.

but yeah, why do you need to race up to that speed? I mean I'm trapping low 120's, and I have alot more power than you do. You wouldn't get to 115 in a quarter mile race anyway, so why do it on the street?

 

true. we do alot of highway i dunno its peer pressure i guess we're all racing and no one stops cause they expect some one else to and before you know it we're going 130

It's not bad to keep pulling in 5th, but it's an overdrive gear. It essentially has no torque multiplication. I forgot the ratio that 5th is, though. But the whole reason it's there is gas mileage and reduce wear on the motor from revving so high in 4th.

I hear alot of people saying **** about driving fast on the street. yeah it's dangerous but come on how many of you can actually honestly say that you never got on the high way and let'em rip, I know just about everyone here has had there car up to or close to top speed on the high way.
