Default Some 03 GT Questions

I'm having a 411 gear installed in my03 GTtoday. The mechanic says I need a programmer to calibrate the speedo. Predator is one...who makes another? Which one is preferrable?

Also...a short throw shifter...is this a direct bolt on (by someone who isn't very good with tools) or should I pay the mechanic to put it in?

Same questions for a cold air kit? Which is preferable? Bolt on or pay?

Sniper is the best tuner out.

Short throw is a direct swap that a monkey can be tought to do.

CAI is a huge waste of money. Throw in a K&N filter and call it a day.

i have an x-caL - 2 that i bought from brenspeed.com (which is SCT's number one custome tuner in the world). they buy their tuners blank, and dont put any tunes on them untill you/a customer calls and orders a tuner. at that point they get your mod list....write you 3 tunes...then send you the tuner.

its true the hand-held doesnt have near as many options as sniper software....but with the hand-held you will be able to put a tune on your car....adjust/correct the speedo from the gears, bumnp up timing...etc. (which pretty much covers the neccessatys (sp?)

i was VERY pleased with brenspeeds tune. i didnt think i would notice much of a difference b/c at the time i already had a "jet" chip stuck in the ecu. well....i was wrong. the tune was/is stout as hell, and i was quite suprised......pleasently suprised. couldnt be happier with my purchase.

Couldn't agree more! Unless the only screwdriver in your toolbox is a butter knife, anyone can do the swap out. Which short throw are you thinking of? I suggest the MGW. Best one out their in my opinion.

First off it's 4:10 gears.

I would get the sct x-cal2 because a lot of dyno shops use sct software.

+1 on not getting a CAI

Definately go with SCT. I've looked at the Sniper software, and it looks awesome, but you'd also be putting in money for a wideband aif/fuel gauge, and if you're questioning putting in a shifter yourself, I don't know if you'd be comfortable tuning.

yeah sniper is the best, yet if you aren't comfortable doing it, i wouldnt mess with it. oxford will say it is easy, but he also has alot of experience under his belt, its up to you whether you will feel comfortable or not.
