Can't figure it out
I'm starting to get really frustraded with my 02 vert gt. I started out awhile back with just a CAi on street tires running and constitant 14.5 @95 without powershifting. I then wanted more so to cut my 60's down i got DR's and a catted x-pipe. Went back to the track adn ran a little better cut my 60's from a 2.3 to a 2.1 and ran 14.3's @96-97. So I got the need for speed again and bought gears and a tuner. This is whats really frustrating me. I go back to the track and ran a 14.6 @97 with a 2.2 60 then got my 60 to 2.1 and ran a 14.1 @99. I ran again that night and ran a 14.3 @97. So i was kinda upset and decided to go back to the track last night and it was bad. I ran twice both runs with a 2.0 60 and i ran a 14.4 @94 and then a 14.5 @95. I don't get it i powershift and have been trying different shift points but I just can't figure out what im doing wrong. Do any of you guys have some suggestions?? I know my car has teh potential to run 13's.
you should easily be in 13's with a 2.0 60" i would think... why are you trapping so low?? my first time at the track my lowest trap waas a 90 and i missed two shifts... my best was 98 with a 2.333 60"... something doesnt sound right to me.. you should probably be trapping 100's i would think.. 100-102.
what gears did you buy?? are you spinning through second or something??

Naw it hooks good I got 3.73's I'm thinkin im not shifting right or something i usually take first to 5,700 and then the rest to 5,800. But I dont dump the clutch on the launch and i launch at 3,300 i usually just let out really fast almost a dump but sort of a ride its hard to explain. But I figured I would be able to run at least a 13.9 with a 100 trap i had 96 traps with llike no mods at all.
ha! i totally forgot about that.. iw as going to say that maybe you are taking too long to shift and you should get a short throw shfiter. but it seems to me that you are taking your car way too high in the RPM range... most people on here shift around 5200-5500.... i try to shift right before 5400 bc thats right about wehre you start losing power... try shifting lower around 5200 next time... (somebody else will come in and tell you exactly wehre to shift but i know for a fact you stop making power around 5250 or 5500.. one of those. on a stock engine that is...) so just shift earlier and get that 2.0 60" and i can definetly see you hitting that 13.xx mark...
I figured thats what it might have been but man i was gettin so pissed off last night. I wanted to sell my car lol. I actually never tried to shift lower either I always kept going higher in the RPM range it never came to me that maybe i was just going to high because my best time came from me shiftin at 5,800 in every gear though.
well you definetly dont need to shift that high.. i know it for a fact that you're outtat your powerband at 5800RPM's... SHIFT! lol. next time you go try shifting a little lower and see how it comes out
