Default Differential Leak

Hi everybody, this is my first post so please don't hate me. Anyway, I have an 03 Mach 1 and the rear differential is leaking. It's leaking very slowly where the back plate bolts up to the rest. Thankfully it is not leaking where the driveshaft meets the differential, that would be big. Is this something that a guy like me can handle or should I take It somewhere. Has anybody experienced this before?

Easy as ****. Get yourself an oil pan, loosen the bolts, pry out on it a little bit to let most of the oil drain, remove the bolts, pull the cover off, let the rest of the oil drain, wipe down the cover and degrease it with some brake cleaner. Take some RTV sealant and smear it around the cover, let dry for about 5-10 minutes, but the cover back on and bolt it down. Next your gonna need about 2 quarts of gear oil and a bottle of friction modifier, the oil fill plug is located on the front (where the driveshaft meets the rear end) and its on the driver side. It will be a plug that requires a 3/8 rachet (square head) fill it up until it starts to run out of that hole. Insert plug and your done.

I recommend 85w90 Mobil 1 gear oil, and you can get a bottle of friction modifier at a Ford dealership.

Do you really need friction modifier?
