I spent $100.00 bones on aCOBRA RADAR DETECTORat walmart. it works really good. That thing tells me if im getting close to a Rail road crossing it gives me both readings on K & Ka radar guns It also gives me alot more stuff that ive even havent figured out yet. I can even have it programmed to a certain speed so it will go off if i go faster than the speed limit. mine detects a radar guns at about half a mile away in 360 degree radious.

My personal experience with a cobra radar detector, was 3 speeding tickets. It just didn't detect very well. I finally put up the extra cash and bought a escort. It was 400$ but lets me know when there is a cop around so I have enough time to slow down... It also detects laser.

The tuners work and yes, you could see some increase in your gas mileage.

Cobra radar detectors are crap, period. Buy a Valentine or at least an Escort and give yourself a fighting chance.

Don't waste your $ on a canned tune. Put it on a dyno and get it done right.

Just a helpful tip for some of you guys. An officer's radar can be set to automatic (hands free constant laser) or set to manual (officer pushes a button every time he wants to clock a vehicle) for lighter traffic so the laser isn't constantly emitted radar detectors are basically useless. When the officer is manually clocking you your detector will go off, but only when he pushes the button. Sometimes you will get lucky when they use manual and they'll clock another car coming over the hill before you and it will trip your detector, but not always the case. I learned this by doing ride alongs with the highway patrol, oh and also getting pulled over and the cop saw my radar detector and explained to me why he still got me lol.

sho is right if a cop is setting up a sting position, they will set it to manual... by the time the pull the trigger your detecter will go off, but if it is you or someone pacing you that they see, you are still screwed, they only way you will get away is if it trips by them gunning someone in front of you
