They all give about the same. But if your doing both headers and mid pipe then you should do long tubes and the mid pipe aswell. That will get you the most gain over shorty headers.

I just installed a Pypes High Flow Catted X pipe on my 96GT. I'm very, very pleased with the sound, flow and extra ***** it gave my pony. Bolted up without issue, the only trouble I ran into was a small clearance issue with one of the HF Cats tapping on the tranny cross member, but it's just a fine tuning issue. It was well worth it.

I have before and aftervids, but honestly I wouldn't know how to show them to you

Honestly, for what I paid for my system I'm very happy. The kit came as an offroad kit, with high flow cats and the pipes from the exhaust manifold to the X Pipe had to be cut about 9.5 Inches to allow for the cats to be installed, however there was no welding (All compression clamps) and everything went in without any convincing.

I'm not quite sure what other Mid pipes sound like on the 96-98's but mine sounds catless, ballsy and mean all through the band.

well, i put my stock h pipe in a jig and tacked it into place. i cut out the cats and tig welded tubing in replacement of the cats. result, off road h pipe. it sounds awesome according to everyone who has gave me a shout out onthe highway (including today) on the way to a mustang show in southeastern pa.

Thanks for the feedback guys.. I have a friend with an 02 gt that just bolted up an off road x pipe from pypes and he likes the sound ofit, but he cant really tell how much if any gains. I am going to install LT's and off road H,but Im not sure about the mufflers yet. Its hard to decide which brand to buy,Pypes,Mac,BBk. If there all close, Ill get the cheaper ones, but if cheaper means less gain, then Ill have to pass and shell out the big dollars for name brand...

I wouldn't expect to get much "gain" from any of these exhaust systems overone another. The hp gain comes from replacing the stock restrictive system, which all these aftermarket exhausts are designed to due....hence the 2.5" pipe and mandrel bends.

Personally, I would order the exhaust system based on the sound you are going for rather than the horsepower. As far as hp power goes, you are splitting hairs.

+1 orange
not much differance in performance between brands, just build quality and sound. you get what you pay for. thats why flow, mac, and pypes are much cheaper that say slp, borla, and bassani. ive owned flowy and slp for my stang and ive installed mac and borla on my buddies stangs, so im not going off hear say or other peoples opinions. figure out how much you want to spend then listen to stangs with exhaust in your price range.
