Default Poor Traction..tires? control arms?

I have 275/45/17's in the rear. Khumo Ecsta tires (i think that's the model). tires have good tread, seem to ride fine, but damn..even in the basically stock form my car is in, even a roll out of first gear I just can't get any traction. pretty sad. every now and then it'll grab, but usually I feel like I'm not getting anywhere too fast in first when I get on it because im spinning way too much. Is it the Khumo crap tires or do I need lower control arms?

It is your tires especially since you don't even have gears.

Im sure a tire will help, but thats just going to mask the root of the problem. You dont have suspension and you need to dial it in properly.

Fast is easy, Quick is hard.

Would a set of MM rear lower control arms be of significant help??

From all I've heard anything you do with the rear suspension is going to give you a positive reaction, but LCAs and shocks probably aren't a bad place to start. I badly need to do the same.

my experience:

i have 17x9 bullitts with 275/40/17 out back. They are suppose to be badass extreme summer performance tires (goodyear eagle f1 dsg3-about $200 a tire).

BEFORE LCA's i got NO traction from 1st and 1/2 way through2nd from a roll which when shifted into, it would make the car go sideways really badly. forgetgoingfrom astop.

AFTER the LCA's guess what...STILL NO TRACTION. the only thing they helped on was to keep the car straight when shifting into 2nd gear when racing. It no longer goes all crazy sideways, it just sits there and spins straight. I need drag radials, i dont see how some peple cut below2.0 60' fts on supposedly tires that arent as good as mine are suppose to be.

this is with 3.73 gears.

its the tires. i had the Ecsta series kuhmos on my 02 gti and they were great road trip tires, but dont ask them to get traction. didnt get traction with stock boost and REALLY didnt get traction when i bumped it up to 20psi. they are great tool around tires, but thats it. invest in a good set of BFG's or if you want some pretty decent tires on the cheap check out NEXEN Tires N3000 series. im running their 275 tires on the rear now and traction is pretty good.
It still kicks out the rear end when i stab it, but thats to be expected with what i have done. great in rain though. lol
