I want to put a cat-back exhaust on my 96 GT and I am looking for the best sound quality, I want it to be a little loud but I dont want it to sound like straight pipes. So far I am leaning towards the Magnaflow muffler (15638). There is a sound clip on the site. Let me here your opinions please.

hmmmm I think bassani is a good balance between loud and nice tone, at least on the new edge, I don't know about the 96-98 stangs but maybe try to find some sound clips? Just shop around and don't rush the purchase. Don't worry about what other people say too much, just listen to every brand you can think of and get what sounds good to you.

I had those style magnaflows on my car before I swiched to a louder set up. I really liked the way they sounded I actually think about going back every now and then. Its a nice deep throaty sound, I had it with stock H pipe for a while then got a Off road h pipe and loved it. It I thought was the perfect combo. Then I swiched to slplm1s and they are very raspy and loud very loud thats whyI puthi flow cats in to calm them downa little but they have a nice tone to them its just you either hate it or love it. I would say to go with the magnaflows thats whatI would do ifI had to do it again.

Mufflers are all about personal preferance. Just put what you like on there. I don't recommend listening to someone else's prefered muffler.

Flowmaster CB or Bassani would probably do the trick if you don't mind drone. The only way to really know you want is to listen to clips on youtube, streetfire, etc.

Yeah best thing to do is to just go on youtube and listen to the differenttypes and decide what you like. I like my flowmaster muffles. They are a very deep sound that isn't insanely loud. Just the right volume for me. Good Luck

I think I am probably going to just get the magnaflow cat-back system and later put on a catted x pipe or something. They sound pretty good on the magnaflow website but they dont have a sound clip for my exact style car. There is quite a hp difference between a staock 96 and a 99 according to what kbb says.

Just go and checkout lots of vids on youtube like everyone is saying. That way you can judge for yourself.

I've always been a fan of Borla or Steeda. Steeda is a lil more tame than the Borla Stingers so that's a possibility as well.
