I got what I was asking for it, 15,300. I've had this other car for over a year, just haven't done anything to it. The car is a 89 lx 5.0 vert with a overdrive tranny. I've been looking at different things for it but I'm not sure what combo I should get. I'm looking for low 7 sec passes in the 1/8th with it. Any suggestions on a combo? I don't want to go with another block. I plan to use nitrous and I know I can run low 7s without going with a 351. I'm all ears ox??

If you want to run in the 7s with a 5.0 I would suggest buying a Dart block and bore and stroke it to 347cid. The stock block is a P.O.S. and will crack in half around 550rwhp. I helped my buddy build his stock 5.0. We used all forged parts and turned it to a 331cid. We used valley and girdle braces. He was making around 510rwhp and the block cracked right down the center. Luckly all the internals were undamaged and he was able to reuse them in his dart block. He is now making 800 something rwhp with a 300 shot.

A cage will be installed before it's raced. I'll check on a dart block. I've seen several stock blocks break in half as well.

Ive never actually seen a 5.0 in person break but i have seen alot of pics of cars at 500hp with a nice hairline fracture that starts from the main bearing.

How much horsepower does it take to run low 7s in a fox? With a good setup on the suspension and tranny it shouldn't take but a shade over 400 right? Is there a formula to use to find out? The dart blocks are over 2 grand and I'm not looking to spend that kind of money yet. I'll just keep the hp in a safe range for the block and hope for the times I want to run. What parts should I put in the motor though? Links would be great to?

My idea for the top half of the motor is gt40x heads, Z shaft from ford racing and roller rockers. That's not certain. Just an idea. My 03 ran a 7.71 with just 353 rwhp so if 450 rwhp is ok for the stock 302 block then I know I can make it run low 7s at that hp rating. My last fox body only had a cam, gear, good exhaust and 150 shot and ran 7.7x

You should look into the BOSS block. its cheaper and should be fine up to 700-800hp.
