So i bought a used 96 GT and it came with a superchip but i didnt get the hand held part that holds the stock programming after you put the chip in. So i have this chip in my car and the check engine light is on but i cant check it cause i have the chip in. Is there anyway i can get the stock programming without buying a new computer for my car. I already took it to ford and they said id have to get the computer. Any help?

 

is it the chip thats in the computer or the hand held programmer????? and ive never heard of not being able to read the check engine light with out the factory tune. the code reader plugs into the dianostics port under the drivers side dash. if you went to the dealer take it to any autozone or advanced auto and they will read it for free.

 

you dont need to buy a pcm if ford does a reflash of the pcm it will wipe the superchips tune and put a factory one in dont let them tell you that i work at a ford dealer and we have accidentally erased some peoples tune by accident but that shouldnt effect them from checking the engine light some dealers tell you that b/c they dont want to mess with it so they quote you a lot of money so you go somewhere else
