I don't suggest 4.30's on NPI cars, as your power level drops drastically around 5k RPM. Stick with 4.10's, and yes they will make a drastic difference with no other mods.

PI cars, I always suggest 4.30's.

You're going to love them. I still get around 21 mpg on the highway, and around town hasn't suffered any at all. You can lug around in 5th gear at 30 mph (better at 35), and it pulls like a raped ape. However, with a stock internal motor and not being able to rev higher than 6k rpm, 4th gear tops out at about 105-108. This could be a problem for you at the 1/4 mile track, but it isn't anything a taller rear tire couldn't help with.

Overall, the car is 100% more fun to drive than with the stock gears I had, and I'm confident you are going to love them.

R u a manual or auto?

I can tell everyone on here that 4.30's is not too much of a gear for an auto. I have them and can tell you they are just right. They are a perfect balance between still having enough rpms to travel on the highway and they really get the revs up much faster...per say then like the 3.73's would. The only down side to them is they limit the top end speed in an auto to just a little over 100 mph as the 4th gear overdrive is useless in racing applications.

I know how 4.30's feel in an auto but never been in a manual with the same gearset. Auto's have taller gear ratios in the transmission when compared to a t-45 manual. This is why 4.30's work in the auto and why they might be too much gear for a manual?

^ I have a manual and it is not too much. RPMs are a higher on the highway, but nothing out of this world. 80 mph is about 3k RPM. One unexpected benefit of these gears is that I don't find myself speeding on the highway as much. I usually stick around 60 mph, which is about 2k RPM.

^yeah I was pretty much thinking that. First gear out the hole might get tricky for you guys but given with enough practice to see just how much throttle input your car will accept before tire slippage off the line is the key to making 4.30's work in a manual?? At least that is what I have read in some of the other 4.30 gear threads...people complaining that 1st gear was useless for them??

.....Why? A NPI car needs all the help it can get. 4.30's are an excellent gear. It's going to be the most responsive mod next to nitrous or a SC. That makes no sense.

The less HP you have, as long as you aren't heavy and low torque, you want all the gear you can get. As for the old timer, he's an old timer.
