Default RATTLE is driving me nuts.

The end of the clutch cable is vibrating on the steeda quadrant. It is just loose enough to rattle ever so often. I just installed a new spec clutch and do not want to tighten the firewall adjuster anymore. Right now i got a little freeplay at the top of the pedal (1/2"- 3/4"). I can pull the cable away from the firewall adjuster about 1/8" and the throwout bearing is just kissing the pressure plate fingers. Today i put heater hose inside the firewall adjuster so that the cable does not rattle inside the adjuster.

Any ideas what i can put on the end of the cable to stop the rattle.

Also is it normal for a clutch pedal to get firmer as the clutch begins to wear. I got 240 miles on it and the chatter is going away and the clutch pedal is defientley getting firmer.
