running pony symbol with the tri flag behind it on the fender means it is a V6, unless it has the 40th anniversary or 35th anniversary emblems on it, which still has a running pony, and then it can be either

but those badges can also be swapped too. parts swaps are ok, if a v6 guy runs true duals, some of the kits require the use of a bumper with cutouts. fake badges.... that is for the stupid ricer crowd (honda badges on an acura and vice versa.) but here is the WORST thing so far ive seen to deface a stang besides wanna be ricer stangs, a "donk" stang. looked like 22"-24" rims on a 99-04 stang, noooooooooooo. it was jacked up (lifted) with huge rims. if i see it again im going to get a pic a post it. i dont know, id hate to see people try to turn stangs in to donks. almost every new dodge charger ive seen is not a muscle car, its a donk. i guess people can do what ever they want to their cars but i hate to see cars turned in to something they arent. muscle cars should stay muscle.

If it's cold outside, check the dual exhaust. If one tailpipe is smoking, it's a v6 :). Unless they got trickier on me. Down in Houston we don't get cold weather much, but when I've seen it in the cold, it's always like that when I come across one.

No i know like getting cobra parts its cool why not upgrade your car? But im talking like full out like changing the badges and the back bumper so it says cobra and your really a v6 or a gt. Sorry i didnt mention gt's doing it too cause ive seen that to. When i said cobra replicas i meant like when they change the badges and stuff i think thats stupid. And as for the op the sound is definatly a dead give away. And as for the people saying pop the hood i think the op means like when your riding and see one so its kinda not practical to look over at one that your passing on the high way and tell him to pop his hood. But that is the true way to tell.

It cracks me up how GT owners don't know about sixer model Mustangs.

it's easier than that, just look through the front bumper cover at the radiator portion, the V6's look different than the GT's.

Um, they are the same front bumper covers.

What does this mean? Dual exhaust comes out both sides. So if a sixer is running duals, you'll see exhaust from both. It's not like one side is just a pipe haning there.

Only way to tell a modded sixer from an eight is by hearing it, or seeing the motor. And even then it's tough if it's a well built sixer. Many a Mustang fan have been fooled by what my motor sounds like with the roots blower on it.

Stock for stock visually, Sixers had Pony fender badging, no fogs, smaller wheels, single tail pipe, 01 to 04 had less aggressive side scoops.

and it cracks me up how many V6 owners are jack asses. While yes the front bumper covers are the same, I never said look at the front bumper cover, which means you obviously can't read.

I'm pretty sure either the support structure - radiator support structure if you couldn't figure that out yourself, or they use a different radiator, either way, if you look PAST the bumper cover, the same thing I said in my first post, they do look different.

LilRoush 09-30-2008 09:31 PM

Um, I'm fairly sure they are the same there as well.
And go back and read how much mis info is in this thread. Wrong comments about brakes (as per you), body parts, exhaust etc.... Sorry you took personal offence to a broad blanket statement. Someone seems sensative.

Edit: I guess you can hear my "boat sounding" Sixer when I pass you. LOL

Might be out of the topic. But the guy that stole one of my side scoops. Has GTO badges on his sixer. right above his running ponies on each side front fender. Oh and one in the back under the blue oval. SO SO SAD yes he is MEXICAN. so am I but i dont do this type of Sh!t. lol
