What FIRST?!
Caution: I am not mechanically saavy, currently trying to fix that.
Well I asked a question about exhaust on the forum and the question was answered pretty
quickly and accurately. So i have a couple more if you would bare with me.
Mustang:
2002 GT convertible stock.
Well I want to get it supercharged which would be the end result. Right now i dont have the money to do everything at once, so i was going to start with cold air intake but was told that would be a waste of time. So I basically have three questions:
1) Why is cold air intake a waste of time?
2) What are the first things i should do in preparation for getting a supercharger? I know there are different things i could do first but for one i am not exactly sure what should be done after i found out cold air intake was not a good idea, so i figured i better ask before getting something done that was a waste.
3) Does getting side exhaust cause any problems or less proformance then dual X/H exhaust.
Sorry for questions i know you guys get alot of them. Oh and try not to get really mechanically technical please but even if you ill look up whatever you say if you cannot dumb it down for me lol.

well are you a manual or auto?
manuals = short throw shifter and some gears
auto = tuner and some gears
gear ratio's to consider that are most common are 3.73, 3.90, and 4.10 (4.10 being most common)
those would be nice pre-s/c upgrades.
get an exhaust. i wouldnt get a side exit personally, but there is no problem with that.
if you are going to get a cold air intake, there is no point. i would only get it for the better pedal feel. just get an air filter and remove the air silencer for now. you will have to remove a cold air intake once you get a supercharger

1. CAI is a waste of money because you won't seen any gain in performance.
2. Suspension and tires, assuming you want to keep the stock internals (ie, no more than 400rwhp to be safe)
3. With the side exit exhaust you'd still have an X or H, the routing for the side exit is a little more restricting but nothing major.

If supercharging is you ultimate goal, keep saving your money! Don't waste it on gears,tuners,$5 hookers etc. You will appreciate it more if you keep saving to get the s/c. Vortech, procharger or kenne bell are great. Vortech will be your least expensive. It's very tempting to go out and get those other mods, but keep saving for your s/c.
Its a 5 speed manuel. i remembered that i didnt say that before i left.
I thought there were certain upgrades that needed to be done before u get the supercharger. I believe the computer in the car has to be reprogrammed or something like that but there are no mods i should make before i get the Supercharger put on?
Got another question:
If i went to a shop to get my car supercharged what should i expect them to say i need or they need to do the job?
Thanks for the all the info too. This is real informative. I might stick with my H exhaust just to save money for now. Side exhaust just looks better....only from the side.

all your s/cing questions answered. i am thinking about this idea.
i keep tossing the idea of trading in the car for an Evo in a couple years when my son is older, and possibly 2nd son(if created) is older as well. Only thing holding me back about boosting my mustang.
