Suspension
This is kind of a sideline question that has to do with dimebag's post about his trip to the track. i noticed his suspension setup is pretty much just shocks/struts and control arms. Is that really all you need to make your car hook a lot better because my car just spins now and id really like to make it hook so i can turn some good times when i go to the track. and on a side note to that, how old do you have to be to drive at a drag strip. i am 17 and i would love to just go out to the track and run the car in the quarter. and anything else on a limited budget that i could do to let the car hook better like spherical bearings or anything, let me know. thanks.

Drag radials
Just go to any Test and Tune night at your local track that way it pretty laid back and you get to go have fun. Check the Helmet rule I know at my track it's anything faster than 13.99 has to have helmet

i would love to get some drag radials for my stock wheels but im trying to look into something that will stay on the car that i wont have to put on to go and then take off for daily driving cause i have a set of 18 inch dd wheels and the stockers are sitting in the basement. and i would love to get some 18 drag radials like my buddy has but i dont think that will be in the price range im looking at.
like what can i do for under $400-$500 to make me stick and turn some pretty good times at the track when i go??? I looked into some lakewood shocks/struts and some spherical bearings and that adds up to about $400 and i can do the install myself with a friend so install isnt an issue. like my buddy could even do gears. he does them like perfect too. so and suggestions for anything for under $500 that would help me out at the track would be appreciated.
well i see you dont have gears...
so you should get some gears & some radials...
i hope your friend has the knowledge of backlash / pinion depth / angle etc... if not it can be quiet a pain to drive around with the whine.

well lets just say my friend owns and operates a performance shop that specializes in mustang performance so i think hes got it covered. i definatly want to do some gears. but then if i do gears, will that help me or hurt me more on street tires because i cant afford both gears and radials. i mean on launch, wouldnt i spin more without the proper suspension with some 3.90's or 4.10's??? i just want my car to be pretty stout and i dont know which would be better. thanks for you input jeed64.
I'm not saying suspension won't help. But the suspension's job is to transfer the weight back to the rear end and get the power to the ground. Even if your suspension is working great, if you don't have the tire to hold the power, its not gonna matter. Lets say you are cutting 2.2 60fts now on stock suspension and stock tires. You could spend $1000 on suspension and get down to 1.9's. Or you could spend $300 and get 1.7-8's. Get my drift?
