Default Quick Problem!

So I went to turn my car off today (vert) and my interior lights wouldn't turn off. I've tried turning the headlights on and off, the switches on and off, opening and closing all doors and they just don't shut off.

Any suggestions before I kill my battery?

Are you certain the headlight/dash light dimmer switch has not been turned all the way to the left? This is how you force the interior lights on...

Don't be too hard on him--for the first 40 years of my life that's the way interior lights worked, it's only on the new cars (I.e. the last 20 years) that they've changed it.

I'd still prefer that the dimmer switch were on the floor...

I've done that a few times.... Accidentally twisted the switch too far and left the interior lights on. If you dont have a bad door ajar switch, or the trunk isnt open, then I'd be willing to bet thats the problem

I did that once and sat in my car forever and somehow finally figured it out. That sounds like the problem. I help people all the time with this problem in all kinds of cars and that's always what it is.

No, I did that once and took me about 5 minutes to figure out. It's weird, I left it for about half hour, went out and it was off. Then I turned the car back on, it went on, then off when I started driving. Then the same thing happened, went to get out of my car and the light stayed on and was off in about 10 minutes after turning the car off.

Can anyone give me any ideas as to what the problem is?

UPDATE: Didn't have the problem when I got back into my car an hour ago, everything worked fine. What could've triggered it?

I kid I kid... I just had a similar experience tonight with my radio so I guess it serves me right.

Where do you live?? If its really cold out, the door ajar switch can get stuck/frozen... Get some penetrating oil and spray the latch, then open and close the door a bunch or times and spray it again
