Default SS valves

OK, my question here is how much better are stainless steel valves than stock.

This is on a 99 4v C head. Mine should be here this Tuesday.

I talked to MMR about porting, and they said with Comp springs and ss valves, I'll be good to around 1000hp.

So my question is how important are the stainless valves? Is it a power thing? Or an RPM thing? I'm gonna be putting some CMS custom grind cams in, for a N/A and big shot of nitrous setup, spinning to around 8k. Obviously I won't spin that high on a stock shortblock, though.

But I keep rambling. Do I need stainless valves? I'm definately porting the heads and putting the springs and cams in before I put them on the car. But are the valves necessary? I'll have it all apart again eventually when the shortblock goes in, so could I do the valves then? I'm trying to get the car running by June 1st, and not doing the valves saves me like $400.

I don't know bout stainless steel...
Sounds like a good investment if u plan on major future mods...
But how bout titanium valves?
I haven't looked into it,
but I did buy titanium retainers for my 4.3 cam install...
Don't know how much difference they make seein how I haven't finished it yet,
but just a thought...

adding ti valves will makes your valve train lighter with in turn would require less energy to move up and down. i know from messing with motorcycle engines, that when you swap to ti valves you need specific valve springs due to their weight difference between the ss and ti. but i do know that a lot of people will swap out their stock ti valves for ss ones because they last longer, on quads at least. ss valve are usually have a swirl polish on them that helps them flow better than stock valves on cars and you usually get a slightly bigger than stock valve. with my gt, my heads are ported but i still have stock valves with only a 3 angle valve job. ive made plenty of power w/o ss or oversized valve. the money i saved from not getting ss valves was put to getting cams. i was on a budget though. i you arent then ss will work better than your stock ones
