Default LAUNCH TIPS PLEASE!!!!

Ok so the other day i was racing one of my buddies who owns a dodge neon SXT from a light and he killed me off the line. Well the reason he killed me off the line was because i put it into 2nd and yes i have an automatic. I figured by putting it into 2nd i wouldnt spin at WOT from the line boy was i wrong. His neon is a 5 spd and he had the perfect launch at about 4500 rpms. But anyway it took till about 40 until i went flying past him and beat him. There is a video on youtube too. And i know i should be embarrased and trust me i am. So i figured i would come to the experts and ask what is the best way to launch in an automatic. Thanks

It doesn't sound like you were spinning, it sounded like you were bogging. Hit it in first, if you don't wanna worry about spinning in first get some D/R's and invest in some suspension.

Yeah it bogged real bad. That was the first time i ever went from 2nd at a dead stop, never again will i do that. I was thinking about getting NITTO D/R's or Dunlop Sport Z1 Star Spec extreme summer tires. If i get the D/R's can i punch it from a dead stop with no spin or very little.

put in if 1st and control your wheel spin by controlling your foot once the car is rolling its harder to spin the tires, just keep the car moving forward with as little wheel spin as possible.

If you bog a car badly enough, you could get beat by just about anything.

It's worse to bog than to spin a little bit for sure.

No, he launched in 2nd though.

With an auto, there's obviously no way to keep the revs up where they need to be launching in a higher gear.
