Default Dropped the '02 GT off at the shop today...

... to have a Vortech 10psi w/ aftercooler installed. everything's stock with the exception of a 75mm tb, plenum, and Steeda cat-back exhaust. what kind of power can i expect from this setup? a friend of mine told me that i should get around 450 rwhp but that seems way too optimistic. is 400 rwhp about average for 10 psi on a stock engine?

also, i'm new to Houston and i've been told by a co-worker about some get-togethers at Westheimer and hwy 6. i'll also probably take the car out to Baytown to test it out on the 1/4 mile after the Vortech is installed. anyone else here from Houston?

which vortech? If it's an S-trim or an Sq trim, your looking at 380-390hp on 10PSI

Good luck, I really hope your short block holds up. I know if it were mine it would fail catastrophically.

I wouldn't want anything over 400whp cuz the stock engine will surely crap out on you, that is why i am sitting at my hp #'s now w/ my V1 S trim and i am happy enough w/ it.
I would say you would be around 380ish

My buddy has a kb 2.1 pushing 9 psi, 380, and 430 on race gas, he runs it at the track with race gas n runs his car pretty hard on a daily basis. His car is fine so far... Stock block 02 gt

I'd say previous estimates are good, however I would worry about running 10psi for too long on the stock internals maybe lower it down 2

yeah that's kind of what i've been thinking. i'm guessing it's a simple pulley swap and re-tune to get it down to 8 psi? or is it that simple? i'm not looking for huge power, i just can't stand my car being slower than my wife's grand prix gxp. long-term plans (i.e. after my wife is done with grad school and our student loans are paid off) are for a built bottom end, ported heads, blower cams, and a KB blower... but until then i'll be happy with 350-380 rwhp/rwtq.

and in answer to the question about pricing, they're charging me somewhere between 1500 and 2000 for the installation and dyno tune. i'm not sure if this is a reasonable price, but honestly i don't care because my work schedule just won't allow me the time to do it myself.

You're fine at 10lbs as long as the tune isn't crazy....I beat on mine with 9lbs and a KB canned tune with zero issues.
