Default Buyer backed out

Needless to say, the guy who was supposedly going to buy my car backed out just now. I left my phone number for him to call me like 6 times via email and he was starting to be flaky and I never heard from him until a second ago. He said he had a "family emergency" and was not able to buy it. It just makes me mad when he literally verbally committed to it over email and was suppose to get it tomorrow. I just hate it when people do sheit like this...just the plain fact you know? Now wtf am I suppose to do lol?! I guess try to sell it.

not much you can do...just keep it up for sale.

people are like that all over this country, I think that half the time they say they are committed just to freeze the deal

just keep it listed, people will tell you all the time that they want to buy it but when it comes down to handing over the cash they flake out.

That's why you tell people (politely) that the first person to show you the money gets the car. I have sold lots of cars and parts and there are always lots of people who want the stuff, they just don't want to pay you for it. I always keep my stuff for sale until the "buyer" comes to pick it up and puts the cash in my hands.

Good luck to you on your sale!

Here's a good one that I've had luck with. If they need a day or so to come up with the money, make them give you a non-refundable deposit. I've done it and given them a receipt for the deposit that explains it's toward the purchase of the item and is non-refundable, even if the purchaser backs out. I sold a car this way and made the deposit $100. You can bet the purchase is serious if he is willing to put that money on the line.

That's a good idea. To the OP, I know how you feel. I went through the same thing for almost 4 months selling my old GT. People calling me, then not returning my phone calls, asking to come see it and never showing up, making me wait around... it seemed like I was never gonna sell it. You just gotta wait it out for someone who actually has the cash to come along, it's always gonna take longer than you think.
