Many Serial-->USB adapters will not work with devices, like the LC-1, that expect and provide real RS-232 level signals.

Here is what the Innovate MTS signal looks like:

An RS-232 signal is supposed to cross 0.0V, and can be as much as 30V peak-to-peak, the negative swing is a logical "1", and the range from -3.0V to + 3.0V is undefined. Innovate uses a +/- 9.0 V swing.

The problem is that the PC industry has perverted the RS-232 standard and often uses a 0.0 to 5.0V swing, this causes real RS-232 devices to not ever "see" a logical "1" signal. I have had the best results with Belkin's Serial-->USB converters, although I have recently resurrected an old notebook with a real RS-232 port to use with serial devices.

well i just put in my steering column pod and my PLX wideband this weekend and now i know what you mean about the pod. it just kind of sits on there, i'm not to pleased with it at all. As far as my wideband though, this thing is great, you kind of got me worried about the blinking but i guess the PLX doesn't do that.

As far as the pod goes, i wouldn't recommend it to anyone else.

O.K. a little update.

I was driving and noticed a that I never took the little static cling protective film off of the gauge. So I go to peel it off and half of the adhesive stuck onto the gauge face. So I go home, grab some alcohol and try to get it off, no dice. I find out at this point that its a plastic covering, not glass like most gauges. I then grab some goo gone and use that, looks like its working then I notice the ****in plastic melted. So now my gauge looks like ****.

I emailed the company and without a doubt this has to be the most positive interaction you can ever have with a company. I asked them if the gauge was rebuildable(after I explained what happened). I was going to either sand the plastic to make it see through again or get glass piece made. Without asking for a receipt, questioning me or anything the guy asked for my address and sent me a new gauge, for free!

Innovates customer service is outstanding! I just wanted to relay this to you all so you have no fear when buying their products.
