Default 2000 GT need help finding engine

I have a 2000 GT and the engine in it is not worth saving, so I need help finding an affordably priced used engine. I can not seem to get good advice from suppliers, because some say a 4.6 out of this type of car will work but the mechanic says it won't. So I am turning the forum for guidance. From what models of fords are the engines interchangeable? I need the engine with 8 bolts on the flywheel if my research is correct that would be the windsor engine.

If your looking online for an engine i suggest going to www.car-parts.com to find one. As far as what works it just depends on what your goals are for the car.
