Default Spending quality time with my 2000 GT

So back in mid-November, my GT developed a nasty rattle. By January is got worse and 3 days after my birthday, her heart gave out. The rattle was a bad connecting rod. A few weeks after I developed the rattle in November, I procured a 2001-vintage Romeo shortblock. The block originated out of Crown Vic, was in a local 'stang owner's engine bay for a bit before burning a rod bearing

Off my friend, I bought a Cobra crank out of his '96

January time-frame: the fun begins!
My workshop at the begining

Disassembly of the Romeo shortblock

Stock internals and a burnt rod bearing, FTL

stripped Romeo block

Stripping the GT

continued in the next post.....

Parts pile for the new engine begins taking shape
[img]http://i255.photobucket.com/albums/hh158/poisonedpony/rebuild08.jpg[.img]

Diamond pistons, -11.5cc dish, forged. Should put the CR at 10.5:1 with teh stock PI heads

Surgery time. A couple of friends came over and pitched in. We decided to pull with the LT's and trans attached.

Freshly machined Romeo block

Cobra crank now with Bling!

Filing the piston rings to size

on go the ARP Main Studs

How it sits now (bagged, of course)

New combo:
- .020" over Romeo block
- Cobra crank out of a '96
- MMR connecting rods
- Diamond pistons, -11.5cc dished
- Switching from VT Stage 1 N/A cams to Stage 2 N/A cams
- Rest of the top-end is carry-over til I can afford the Trick Flow heads; stock WIndsor PI heads with Comp valvesprings, stock intake with Trick Flow plenum and 70mm TB
- The ZEX kit will be bumped up to 150 shot once I upgrade the fuel system this summer.
- Machine work was done by a local shop, otherwise me and my friends are doing all the work ourselves.

Hoping to have it wrapped up by the 17th.

Your compression ratio will not be 10.5:1 it will be around 10.2:1.

Looks good. I bet it was a bitch pulling it out with the longtubes and stock Kmember.
