Default nitrous & clutch

I'll be heading to the track in a couple of days. It will be my first time on drag radials, and i have a couple of questions.

My first question (and concern) is spraying of the line going to kill my stock clutch? It's not so much the peak hp & tq that my car has (#'s are in sig), as it is the 500 + torque at 3k that scares me!

Secondly, at what rpm should i launch at? These are a set of used BFG's that are pretty well worn.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

its JUST MY OPINION , but i wouldnt spray until 2nd gear.....you have a good amount of gear in the rear to launch the car..........a couple of tenths isnt worth a couple grand $$$$$$$$$$

I would think you should launch pretty close to 3k, but that all depends on how your tires are hooking. I'm interested in how clutch holds up too as I will be spraying soon. I see several on here spraying with the stock clutch so you should be ok at least for a while.

i know my torque was nowhere close to 500 but in my experience i was making somewhere close to 400rwtq with my s/c. i ran the stock clutch for about 6 months until i changed it for no reason. i beat the living snot out of it and it just kept goin. took it to the track all the time and never slipped at all. but i was 100rwtq of you so for you it may be a whole nother story. i think youll be fine for a while but eventually its gonna start slipping

well, grant you im not making the power you are, i AM spraying, and i AM spraying right off the line... with a stock clutch. i take it to about 3500(simply because my MTs are BEAT) and let her eat... hooks and goes... with a good set of tires i plan on 4500-5000 launches on spray, and will continue with the 5500 launches on motor... fwiw, so far so good, knock on wood

Thanks for the feedback. It sounds like the stock clutch is pretty strong. I think i'll first try launching hard n/a, and then spray in second, and see how that feels. If i feel it can take more, i'll spray it out of the gate once, and see what happens.

Hopefully i'll pull a good time by spraying from 2nd on up only... and won't be tempted in trying it in 1st... lol.

the whole reason i like running my car on spray, is because spraying, and hooking up in 1st... well.... 1.60-1.62 short times are fun.
