Default More questions about headers/exhaust (Future Owner)

Are shorty headers easier to install than LT's?

Does an aftermarket mid pipe make a significant difference? I know you need one if you do LT headers, but what about if you just buy shorties? Would there even be a big power increase with shorties and a stock mid pipe? I plan on buying a cat-back exhaust at the same time as the headers (if I choose to go with headers).

Is an aftermarket mid-pipe relatively easy to install?

Both will be a pain in the *** to install, might as well go with the L/T's

Yes, both in sound and a little performance.

If you buy shorties, you wouldn't have to buy one, but you would be stupid not to.

No, the stock midpipe is junk. Crush bent 2.25 inch piping and 4 cats, if your doing the headers then go through with the whole thing. If you dont, it will be kinda like wiping before you poop......kinda pointless ya know?

Yes, with some common hand tools and patience, it can be done.

I know their both a pain in the *** to install, but i've heard shorties are slightly easier.

You can keep yor stock h pipe if you get shorties.

Most of your gains will come from an aftermarket mid pipe (especially with long tubes) and they are really easy to install.

I think the gain with shorties would be minimal with the stock h.

IMO do it right the first time... do a full exhaust with long tubes. (it will sound & perform better). If i had it to do over again that's what i'd do.
