I don't like the Ford Edge. Just personal preference. I like Mustangs and the new Taurus SHO looks cool but that's about it on Ford lol.

Never heard of it being called a New Edge, Edge etc.... Ford makes an Edge - and its not a Mustang!

S stands for 'sport'.
197 is the project number. It has no real significance other than being a sequential number (EVERY project that anyone at ford dreams up gets a number, only a few ever come to fruition. Thats why SN95 seems to be directly followed by S197.) N stands for North America. Ford used to include the intended market in the project code.

He probably just said edge to shorten it up, and I know what an S197 is. You asked if I meant "S195", so I said that I have never heard of an "S195".

I meant SN95 then lol. That is the technical ford spec body style. IF you know another spec code which corresponds with 99-04's, then call it what it is ... not a new edge, or any other made up name instead of product code

better torque converter (2250 stall), 6500 redline, and a better 5spd auto tranny I would guess are the reasons why
