Default ghetto headerz?

so im think bout doin mac long tubes and i was woundering, with my tools ( welder, diff kinds of saws and some extra pipe ), would it be possible to put long tubes in by just cutting off the factory manifolds and cats and get a universal flange set and put the flanges on the factory exhaust right after where the cats were to bolt up to the long tubes?

He is asking about taking the stock midpipe and making it a shorty midpipe. And you could, but the hastle is gonna be more than its worth the outcome of some saved money. Just buy a mac o/r h pipe if thats what you want. If you want an x pipe, lethal performance makes an x pipe for use with mac longtube headers. Good luck with whatever you decide to end up doing.

My plan was to buy Mac LT headers, and the universal flange set... Then instead of wasting 150 bucks i could just using the stock mid pipe thats already on the car and just cut part of it off to fit the headers...basically i am trying to save some money because im going off the college in august and i need the money..Im pretty sure it will work because me and my buddie are putting it in and he is a car genius sooo i think it will work

Yes, but it would be just as easy to buy/order a Universal X from your local muffler shop and get some 2.5" tube and then make your own from there.

The upside from going to the aftermarket midpipe is partly from going from 2" stock to 2.5" aftermarket piping.
