Default Header Installation Underway

So I took the car over to my buddies friends house. He has a garage and a lift and all neccessary tools to get the job done.

1. We lifted the car and started by removing the stock H-pipe and cats. This was fairly straight forward and having the car up high was real nice.

2. The next thing completed was the starter removal. I see where all the fuss comes from now. The top bolt really was a pain in the ***. If you remove the plastic liner in the front passenger wheel well you are able to see the top bolt. We used a small box wrench and were able to make 1/8th inch turns but after a few your able to turn it by hand.

3. Next was to disconnect the steering shaft. Very simple. Just one bolt and the shaft is telescopic so it should slide off. Mine required a few taps from the front to get it started. Once it comes loose, just hang it off to the side.

4. We then tried to remove as many of the manifold bolts (13mm) as possible without lifting the engine at all. Using an impact gun with swivels and extensions, we were able to get 5 of 8 from driver side and only 3 of 8 on passenger.

5. We now dropped the car down onto jack stands so we can start with the engine raising. We took a normal jack stand and a phone book, which seems to be very common and placed it under the oil pan. We loosened the one bolt on each side that attaches to the K member ust to be sure it would move and it did.

6. The engine bolt mounts are easily accessible and will be removed either tomorrow or the next day.

7. So far the plan is to remove the engine mounts which includes the three bolts that attach to the block and the one to the K member. Then we'll jack the engine up to give us the most space possible. I read on another forum that S shaped wrenches seem to help out quite a bit. So we're going to give it a go and hopefully all goes smooth enough. haha.

If anyone has done a header install on somrthing close to an 02 GT let me know how I'm doing and if there is anything I'm missing. I've printed off some instructions that I found but this guy also bought a new tube k member so his was out of the way. I wanted to try and avoid doing that as much as possible. Any questions and I'll post back as soon as possible.

Thanks !!!!
