Default Tire Size for 10.5 inch wheel?

Short Version:
Will BFG G-Force Sport 275/40/17 work on a 17x10.5 inch wheel, and not look stupid?

Long Version:
I just ordered a set of Anthracite FR500 wheels from American Muscle. 17x9 up front, 17x10.5 DD out back. I was going to go with Sumitomo 315/35/17 for the rear, but they are on back order for 2-3 weeks.

I am currently running a BFG G-Force Sport - 245/45/17 on a 17x8 wheel. The wheels are bent and the chrome is pealing, so they cannot be balanced properly. It is bad enough that it feels unsafe at highway speeds.

BF Goodrich says that their G-Force Sport tire - 275/40/17 will fit up to a 17x11 wheel. I really like the tires, but will they look and handle alright?

The car is a daily driver, stock ride height, and my commute is 42 miles one way. It will never see the track. Yes, it looks like a 4x4, but I spend a fair amount of time on gravel roads, and it will bottom out as is, so it will have to stay that way. (That may be how my wheels got bent, so I will have to lay off the Dukes of Hazard driving in the future /jk)

Thanks for any help you can give me!

+1 for the Nittos! The 275 BFG's run wide, but are still a little narrow for a 10.5-11 inch rim imo.

actually I'm running 275/40/17's with G-force sports on 10.5" rims, doesn't look stupid, and works fine, holds air well.

the tires aren't nearly as loud as the T/A KD's were, by far. SO if you want to, I'd say go for it. They will fit.
