Ok, a close friend of mine always talks $h** about Mustangs and we're gona race when he gets back from Florida. His car is a 05 Altima 3.5 SL. Ive driven his car, I really think its faster than mine. Idk why I bought a npi lol. His is tiptronic, so my question is, whats the best mph to start from where I'll be in my powerband? I was thinking 2nd at 30mph, I want to be able to beat him up to about 80. BTW the 05 3.5 Nissan engine is rated at 250 hp, and 215 hp for me :/. thanks in advance

 

Honestly i think you will walk him no mattter what gear yuu start in he might have more hp but how much tq does he have, and if im not mistaken the altima is a front wheel drive i would start in 1st at 30 and go to 5k everytime and you'll spank him,

 

I think you will take him, I wouldn't worry to much. Just make sure you hit all your shifts and you can drive.

 

The VQ35DE should win, I'd race from a dig because with 225 tires those cars are hard to launch.

Racing him from 30 is a bad idea being that he is the 5 speed auto, he's still in first. You probably are not.

My mom drives one, and I raced 30-75 against my friends mostly stock (intake/exhaust) LT-1 Camaro and it was pretty much dead even. The Altima pulled maybe 1/2 a fender

 

Wow, the 3.5 beat a LT-1 Camaro up to 75? I know F-bodies are geared for highway pulls, but they still make alota torque down low. RyanK and Mustang3GT07 were making me feel good about this for a min! I'll practice my launches more and go from a dig, where do you guys launch at, around 2400 rpm's? Oh and Mustang3GT07, I love the eaton inside label!

 

I'm tellin ya broski you got this! A LT-1 is nothing special, I owned a 96 maro. Now if were talking a LS1 then you got some problems.

 

He has a Non-PI motor though. Where in CT are you? Tell your buddy I'll meet him somewhere and spank him anywhere he wants.

 

I know the LT-1 is nothing boast particularly from a roll, but IMO I'd say it has a a pretty big edge over a NPI GT, in fact they are a drivers race with PI GTs.

That is really the only first first hand comparison of performance I have.

But if you do race him from a dig your launch should give you a decent edge. and at least be able to do well against the thing. Just give it a try and report back either way. Cuz I'm curious.

 

npi gt would get raped by my grandmas prius.... lt1 cars also destroy npi gts, and so will that altima

dig is your only hope, and i still predict fail
