The part that holds the seat belt is actually a piece mounted to the rail. Your seat belt would be backwards. Just buy racing seats and sell your stockers.

I just did this.. bought summit racing seats(off craigslist) for 200$. Just sold my front seats for 240$, and I still have my rear seats to sell. So far, I'm up 40 bucks; and my seats looks a hell of a lot cooler. Plus they weigh less.

take it from somone who has removed thier seat<<<THIS GUY lol you can probebly bolt the pasenger seat in the drivers spot, but the latch for the seatbelt is perminent attachment to the rail. So basically no seat belts, and the do weight alot...like 80ish loli removed my interior passenger seat rear seat and that big waste of space called a stero/amp rack, and gained probebly about 2 tenths. what it really helped with was trap speed tho. gain a few mph. lol

I really dont imagine you'll save much weight.

You can unbolt and remove the passenger seat without much trouble to save a bit of weight. Or as mentioned you can swap to summit seats which are lighter.

Realistically neither of these will make much difference in your ET's.

It's raelly not worth the trouble for the seats. You'd be better off just taking the back seats out and leave it at that.

Unless your going to do all kinds of other weight reduction than its not worth it..

A lot of small **** adds up but just removing 20 lbs from your seats isnt gonna make a differance

A .2 from maybe 100 lbs in weight? The driver side seat weighs about 50~lbs; not 80.

It's really hard to tell if it makes the difference, because then you have to realize that it won't be the same conditions at the track the day you went before you took the seats out. If you want to do it I would make a pass and see if you can change them in between passes to see if it really makes a difference. If you aren't going to do it on the same day then you really won't find out how much you can truely pick up. That's my opinion.

WRONG! the "receiver" is NOT anchored to the floor.
You're all right...ish.

It depends on the year if it's anchored to the floor or the seat. My 96 is anchored to the floor. The 03 GT with cloth seats are anchored to the seat. The 03 seat has an extra bracket welded to the frame that bolts to the receiver.

I haven't been through all the years and I don't know if it's just the "non leather" cloth seats that are anchored to the seat. Someone with a leather new edge should confirm for us. I'm curious if it's a seat trim option or if it's a Model Year change.
