Default I told you this thread was coming

So I finally pulled the trigger on a set of 4.10s and had them installed today. Got the car back around 5ish and mashed the gas, and well you guys were right lol it is by far the best thing I've done yet and I should have done them sooner, much sooner. 4.10s FTW!!

I was told by a mechanic that there should be some kind of break (100-300 miles) in period for the gears to seat properly in the diff. Is this true?

That's the common suggestion and definitley a good idea. I didn't have that self control. My buddy and I put them in, I did a couple heat cycles, then drove it home 75 miles away. The next day I came to a light with a bolt on Evo and walked him off the line up to 80. Been beatin' on them ever since, ZERO noise.

nah..my friend damn dropped the cluth leaving the parking lot when he got his 3.73's and his car is fine and doesnt whine

My 4.10 in my manual 01 GT have been whining since I bought the car. I just ordered a new set to throw in. Does anyone know if I can damage my rear end by driving with poorly installed gears?
