Question WHAT SIZE TIRES?????

What size tires should I get on my 99 Cobra's stock 17x8 wheels? They had 275/40's on them when I got it. I am powder coating the wheels and wonder what size tires to put on. Should I put 275's back on? Please tell me what you think. Thank you.

245 or 255(if you can find them in the tires you want) in the front and 275 in the rear is what i would run.

I would not recommend a 275 on an 8" wheel

Going 245 is the standard and can get away with a 255 in Nitto and maybe a couple others. Running a tire that is too wide for a wheel leads to poor handling, tire wear and, in extreme cases, and unsafe ride. If you want to go wider, get new wheels as they are cheap.

OP, you just looking for dd abuse or are there gonna be some sort of track time involved??? Either in a straight line or corners. I am planning on using 275 wide d/r's on my stock rims which are the same dimensions as yours. But then again, i'll be driving to and from the track with them and they come off when i get home. So it really depends on what youre gonna use them for.

The guy before me said 275's were fine on it. He ran a set just driving around to work and stuff. I'll probably put 255's on the front and 275's on the rear.

ran both 265 and 275s with no problems on the stockers. run 245s on the front, 275s on the rear.
