advice for 2000 gt
hey guys my names steve , i was looking for some advice , i got a 2000 gt mustang bone stock , i plan on pulling the engine this winter for a build for now i wanted to bracket race the car for the rest of the summer , its a stick car , ived raced it before and ran anywere from 13 9's to 14 4's all on street tread , i thought maybe throwing some gears maybe 4 :10s an intake some underdrive pulleys and an exhaust , and slicks , and maybe a line lock and a tach with a shift light , is it worth the hassel of racing this year or just hold off and wait till the big build? and if so my ideas of upgrades worth doing? what bolt ons have u guys got results from ? im new to the modular motors learn me haha , thanks

Forget 90% of the ideas you stated if you want to bracket race. You don't need a shift lite tach, you can get either a raptor shift lite or one of MSD's or Autometer's stand alone lites. Get a short throw shifter so you don't miss any shifts. Get either some descent drag radials or some slicks. Work your suspension. Get some good UCA/LCA's, full length subframes, and I would suggest adjustable shocks/struts. I'd also recommend spherical bushings. You don't need speed to bracket race, you need consistency. Between 13.9 and 14.4 is no good. If you want to win in bracket, get it tight. Maybe between 13.95 and 14.0. When you have a setup that can run consistantly, then start looking to add power if the season's not over.
