Default Which compressor to remove front springs

How did you guys remove your front springs. The spring compressor kit I have is the two clamp things, and there isn't a way to get a clamp on the backside of the spring. The other type of spring compressor is for macpherson struts and I don't think it would be strong enough to use on actual springs.

EDIT: Actually the two clamp thing is also meant for macpherson style struts apparently, so yea..what did you guys use.

never used a compressor, always just put a jack under the control arm, taken the 2 strut bolts out, then let the control arm down slowly.

Thats what I was going to do, but was afraid that I wouldn't have the jack perfectly centered or something and the control arm would fall off under the pressure of the spring.

you just jack the car up by the body, put it on stands. jack the jack up tight to the control arm, take the bolts out, then let the jack down SLOWLY and the spring will decompress then you usually have to pry em out.

yup and you'll know when its decompressed by the loud boom sound the spring makes. Well at lease mine did.

I'm just a little worried about puttin my hand in there to beat out the bolts lol...Like the second I beat one out its gonna slide off one side of the jack and I am gonna catch a coil spring in my face

BAMMM!

I can now disassemble and assemble both sides in about 20 minutes. Easy as pie!

yeah man weve never used a spring compressor. we changed out my springs for the prokit's a couple months ago, took 45min to do all 4. gettin the spring out is cake in the front, putting it back in requires some technique lol.
