Default AMERICAN THUNDER CATBACK

Im thinking of buying the Flowmaster American Thunder Catback for my 01 GT Bullitt. I love the flowmaster sound, but Im afraid it wont be loud enough to suit me. Does anybody have this setup with an off road mid pipe? I know you guys say say an off road x doesnt sound right with Flowmaster, so I was thinking maybe an off road h instead of the stock would make it louder?

At first I looked at the SLP 1s, but im afraid it wont have the tone im looking for. I want deep, and powerful sounding like a flowmaster, but I want it to be pretty loud. Im afraid the 40 series that come with the AT catback wont be loud enough for me. Do the SLP Lm2s sound at all like Flowmaster? How do the LM2s compare to an American Thunder in terms of Loudness?

I want Loud, but i want something similar to that Flowmaster muscle sound.

slp's and flowmasters are 2 completely different mufflers. slp's are a straight through design while flowmasters are a chambered muffler. slp's are louder than flowmasters and have a totally different tone. flowmasters create the "classic mustang sound" but slp's have a more deep roar

If you want your car to sound like the original 1968 Bullitt, then check out SSS's Adrenaline series catback. Someone on this forum recently posted some clips with these on his stang, and it sounded like the original...no joke!

I have this system as well, and i originally had the adrenaline series mufflers. I never really noticed it until my buddy told me "your car sounds a little like the original Bullitt".

If you want something very loud, but with great tone, and a somewhat similar sound to the Adrenaline series mufflers (but alot louder) then check out the Terminator series mufflers. These are what i know have now. They don't quite have the Bullitt sound, but they're much more agressive and throaty, with an awesome sound as well.

Im not sure what you mean by throaty. When I hear throaty, it makes me think of a straight pipe sound with no mufflers at all.

The other option Ive been looking into is the Magnapack Catback. I would rather not change my midpipe right now, but i want something a lot louder than the factory setup it has now.

When i say throaty, i mean not as smooth. To me, this applies to both chambered and straight style mufflers.

If you're not going to change your mid pipe, and want something quite loud (but deep and with good tone) you might want to consider something like SSS, SLP, Borla, Magnaflow (Magnapacks). These are straight through style mufflers, and will usually be louder than most chambered mufflers.

If you go the chambered route i hear that Mac's are fairly loud, and then there's the single chambered flows, which will be loud ws well.

my buddy has a o/r x with Automatic thunder Catback and it sounds good, but if you liek loud then it is not loud enough for you....i would get macs , the yellow gt up top there has em and sounds awesome, the slps have no tone to them at all, just loud cool noise, but flows make the nice tone and macs are right in the middle, but sound great
