Default Getting new Rims FR500's questions

looking at getting the FR500 18x9's on my mineral gray GT vert.
few questions about these:
how much do they weigh?

will i notice the extra rotational mass? one reason i wanted to stick with my 17's but they were bullits and im sure were heavy as hell.

will they benefit me in the handling department?

they come with 245/40/18 nexans tires seem to be a good bang for the buck tire but man they seem tiny for 9" rims. any thoughts? im going to see if they can upgrade them to 275's.

opinions on these rims/ tires? any help first time buying new rims and tires.
i think im opting with these over the 17x9 with 275 sumitomo's from American Muscle
these are cheaper come with better quality tires but are 18" and 245 instead. i also heard 18's tires are expensive. =/

Ill sell you mine, and you wont notice a big difference. If you just drive on the street and rarely goto the track 18's are definetly for you. I didnt notice a big handling difference but thats going to depend more on what tires you get than the wheels.

i think the 18's will look great since i dont plan on lowering it only concern
i would most likely go with the 17x9 sumitomo's from AM but ive heard horror stories about the side walls going out on those tires.. and they are more expensive why pay more money for a 17inch rim with cheaper tires? good thing is the tires are wider...

I have nexens on mine and theyve been great for street driving, traction isnt bad and they are good in the rain. Id stay away from sumi's just because of the bad stories, theres enough cheap tire companies out there that you dont have to take a chance with sumis if you dont want to.

if your looking at 18s....they destroy your performance...i personally didnt care originally, but when i started draging more i switched them out once, and bam shaved .5 a second off my time and gained a little over 2 mph trap. But they are so sexy that i dont care i got the 18s and im runing 275 up front and 295 in back, but they are very spendy compared to the 17s, cheepest tire ive found is 225? its all in what you want, if you can deal without 18s i would...saves tons of money. (cost me 2500 for wheels and tires, proxie t1r)

whew thanks for the replies helped a ton im really wanting the 17's but with different tires. i could do the 17's with 255 nitto's instead of 275 sumi's. looks like my best choice so far.

dont know how the tread wear is on the nittos though i dont wanna replace tires all the time. (not a burn out queen) mostly daily driving ill get on it every once in a while though but im not burning any rubber anyways when i do.

17x9 with 255 40 17 nitto nt555's its about a hundred dollars more than the 18x9 nexan n3000's but i think for the performance of the smaller rims and stickier tires its worth it. plus extra cost of tires down the road for 18's

We sell A LOT of the Nexens, and they are an excellent tire for the price. The directional tread is very appealing as well. We do the sumis, toyos etc as well, but the Nexen is a really good value. We can do silver 18x9/10 with 245/265 N3000s 998.00 Mounted Balanced and SHIPPED to your door step. We can get a 275 on the back for about 50 more dollars.
