As I understand it, the issue with using synthetic oil in a higher mileage car is due to the fact that synthetic oil is superior in cleaning and "de-sludging" an engine vs. a conventional oil. The myth was that using a synthetic oil in a higher mileage motor will cause leaks. Well, it's not the oil that is causing the leak, it's the fact that the synthetic oil is getting rid of some of the buildup that was creating a phony seal in the first place. In other words, the synthetic oil is just exposing the problem.

yeah you can switch between them all you want. I've done it once(got a free oil change) and noting happen. But if you think about it synthetic blend oils are a mixture of both.
