Default Gears

There is a speed shop in my area that will install Ford racing gears for 450. that includes gears and labor... is that a good price and will I notice a seat of the pants difference from stalk gears to 3.73's? I dont know what exactly my future mods are but I think for everyday drive ability and fuel mileage I don't want to go 4.10's..... its a 5 speed. thanks

not sure about the price, i think its about average but for the gears, yea you'll notice a difference, a decent difference, for the better.

Go with 4.10s you will love them dude. It will feel like a brand new car. As for the install it seems little steep. Look and shop around little more.

i think he meant stock

and that sounds like a great price to me if it includes the gears, which should be like $150 new. i've gotten quotes to do a gear install at $500 without the gears included.

bio-degradable gears I believe, they are able to grind up old corn stalks, and put them through a process that turns them into steel, like a wierd form of alchemy or something. I wouldn't recommend buying them.

Haha, I made a funny....okay not really.

$450 seems like a good price. I was quoted $300 labor only to install gears. So add almost $200 for bearings and gears.

I have heard that there isn't to much to changing out gears, is that true?

um...no. it is a very exact process. if the gears aren't lined up properly, you could really screw something up. it's not something that i would tackle myself.
