Default 4.30 gears

Alright I have now done a ton of research on these gears. The one thing I can't understand is why more people aren't getting them in autos. I am just about sold, I am just posting this thread to make sure I am not doing something really stupid. I currently have 3.73 gears and want more. It isn't my daily driver, would still like to see at least 15mpg though. I would still like to be able to hit around 125 in third, which my research shows should be possible. Most people have 4.10, why not have an edge? Is there anything that I am missing?

Most people have 3.73's or 4.10's because everyone else does, and nobody thinks outside the box about what would be best for their application.

Worst case scenario is you get a set of taller tires for the track if you eventually start topping out third before the end of the track.

Well I don't plan on changing to larger tires any time soon and I plan on keeping the 3.73 in case I ever get the dough to charge it.

I can't seem to find anything saying what people average on gas mileage with 4.30 in a new edge auto. Of course it depends on driving style, but would really like to hear some numbers. I do drive it a couple days a week, sometimes traveling 100 miles in those two days, but I have an escort ZX2 for m-f, so not that big of a deal.

I have 4.30 gears in my auto. I love them. Getting slicks to take advantage of them.

Wouldn't you top out 3rd gear in a manual with 4.30s? I mean in the 1/4 of course. What apps would 4.30s be better than 4.10s?

Awesome, just what I wanted to hear. Any MAJOR complaints about gas mileage. Not that I car a whole lot.

It's close in an auto im guessing its too much in a manual but not sure. I'm even going to be running 28" slicks to make sure.

Dropped maybe 2 mpg. Not bad in O/D. 2400rpm going 60 in O/D.
