Wink Throttle Position?????

Hi boys!! My name is Erikka, I'm 21 years old and I am new to the forum. I have had my car for a little over a year. I love it. I have had a few fun things done to it, but from the exterior of the car you would never know.

I have a quick question. Any insight would be greatly appreciated. The other day my check engine light came on. So I grabbed my scanner and checked it. I can't remember the exact code, but it was something about the throttle position. My car will randomly idle high. And it doesn't have a set RPM that it will idle at either. Sometimes it idles at 900, and others it's1500, or even 2200... wtf?? I can rev it up and it doesn't stop. I can shut the car off and it won't stop... nothing really works. It just fixes itself. The scanner said my car was at 16% throttle at an idle.

So I guess my question is... what should I do? Any reason it could be doing this? Thanks guys! I appreciate any and all help!!

sounds like a bad throttle position sensor.

A faulty TPS can cause an erratic idle and surges while driving.

So after I wrote my thread I went and replaced the TPS and erased the code. I figured it couldn't hurt. Well it still idles high! On the scan tool it reads that the throttle position will only read from 16%-92%. That means I'm at 16% at an idle and 92% at full throttle... right?? And that is AFTER replacing the TPS.

I just posted that I just replaced my TPS... it's still giving me issues. It does DRIVE BETTER, and the check engine light hasn't come back on. But the high idle is still an issue. It doesn't ALWAYS idle high, it's random. But I was also wondering if the 16-92% range is normal... it seems to me if the pedal is to the floor it should be 100%!! lol. I tried opening the throttle at the throttle body as well, and couldn't get 100%.

You need to get the exact code, there are 8 or 9 codes related to the throttle position sensor--not all of which indicate the sensor is defective.

How do I do this?? Would it be "P1120PP sensor out of range low"?? Kind of irrelevant though because I replaced the TPS and deleted the code.
