Have you tried checking the IAC valve?

How do I check it to see if it needs to be replaced?? I replaced it a few months ago with a lightly used one. I hate to think I would have to replace it AGAIN...

You can always just clean it and see if it helps.

yes, see if there is carbon deposits inside that are keeping the sensor from getting an accurate reading. this would throw the computer off and cause the issues you are describing, especially the intermittent part

and send me more pictures from the photoshoot in your avatar

I will have to clean it this week and see if that helps.

Glad you liked my picture. I will send you pics of my CAR anyday, but unfortunately the picture I have up is the only one I'm willing to show. ;-)

there's a bolt/ plug under the throttle body. It's black and located under the throttle body bottom left hand corner. It could be that. You may have to take off your cai and the the throtthe body(not the plenum) and see.

But b4 that, grab a short water hose and just put one end to your ear and use the other to stick it in around there to find the exact location of the air intake/sound of the engine. You may be able to feel it the plug is there.

you can alos tap on the iac with a hammer, wrench, or ratchet but tap it (dont try to knock it off the intake) and see if it changes the idle then replace the iac valve i dont like used parts you dont know if they are good or not

I got the iac valve from a friend so I knew the person and the car. But I totally get where your coming from. I don't generally like used parts either.

My check engine light hasn't come back on yet so I don't think its gonna throw me the code. But I should still be able to check the throttle position with my scanner.
