Default Air Filters???

When i bought my car, it already had a cold air intake put in.. it looks like one of those $70 ones from AM or wherever sells it for that much.

ANYWAY, my air filter is now brown from all the dirt that's in it... i jsut changed my spark plugs and my air filter is definitely next on the list. Do you guys recommend any specific air filter to buy?

should i just go to a local auto store and get a replacement? or should i get the one that AmericanMuscle sells?? K&N is way too expensive... $60??!?!

will ANY filter fit on my intake tube that is on there now? the filter is in the fender

any aftermarket filter should do the same thing though... because if i buy a filter, dont i have to go buy the oil for it too? dont you always have to oil a filter before you put it back in?

this one looks just as good as the 99-04 GT K&N filter that AM has... this BBK one does the same exact thing and its re-useable. why spend the extra $20? if there is a good reason, maybe i will just cough up the extra 20 bones

K&N is worth it. Mine was I think $50, and it came with the cleaner kit as a gift. K&N is re-usable, just clean it every k miles. If you go to advanced auto parts, they have a K&N air filter, then the stock filter. You can see a big difference, obviously. Don't be cheap on it, its worth it. My mom's was like $80, for a 04 jetta. lol

I go to American Muscle for most of my stuff too, but when it comes to air filters, I tend to stick with K&N. I love that they are re-usable. I've always seen the most gain, and the most use out of them.

I just reoil my filter with every oil change, it is the one that came with the JLT. It is a good filter, I will continue to use it.

S&B filters

i guess my main question here is -- will any air filter fit on the cold air intake that is on my car now??

for instance - are the cold air intakes designed so that you can use a stock style air filter on them?

thanks

I recommend one called speed by spectre. Its excellent quality ( I think better than k&n ) i got it for $28 after a $10 rebate. You can have autozone order one for you.

Depends on the cold air kit, pull off the filter that is on it and note it's measurements and order a custom k n with the same measurements. K n come preoiled.
