Default ****2001 Mustang GT Oil 5 or 6 called?****

My buddy just bought a 2001 GT with 89k for 6700 he did his oil change and put 5 and half quarts of oil in said it was a little over the dipstick but heard to use 6 so he met in the middle. Does 2001 call for 6 or 5? i know ppl argue about 6 or 5 quarts all the time and there the same oil pan i beelive. I know 99 and 2000 said 5 quarts and 02 03 04 said 6 quarts i just dont know about 01s. So 5 or 6 is called for in the manual? thanks

its "suppose" to be 6. in 2001, Ford the DIPSTICK changed (dunno why) to allow for 6 quarts to be added to the oil pan without going over the "max" line on the dipstick. i used 5 for a REALLY long time even with 425 rwhp and only recently started using 5 1/2. i dont wanna jinx anything since ive never had a problem with it so i dont wanna put 6 if ive never had to. u know what they say, if it aint broke dont fix it.

so for the record on my 2000 gt, anything above 5 quarts goes past the crosshatches and max line on the dipstick

They changed it to 6 IIRC because some oil pumps were burning up in turns.. or something like that.

I dont know why people insist on doing something other than what the manual from FORD says to do.. but w.e floats your boat.
