Default woo hoo GEARS!!!

i finally have chosen the path of gears...lol i happy i drop it off tomarrow night and get the rear rebuilt new carbon fiber clutchs bearings seals and a set of 3.90s then thursday i should be getting my t-56 to drop the rpms down a bit. I wonder if i ran a 13.39 with stock gears and a old clutch and tranny anyone think i can get 12.99, with a new clutch light flywheel t-56 with close ratio gearing and a new posi with 3.90s?

Congrats on the 3.90's! I'm running them as well. They are a great gear for these little 2 valve mod motors.

there's no doubt you have a strong running car but you'd have to drop a second and a half to catch me. BTW I was supposed to take it to the track today but it rained at the track. I'll make some passes probably next week, and post up a video.

ok bigger isnt always better, let me point out my reasoning for 3.90s. All the information i have says this. 6th gear and 3.90s keeps me pretty much where i am right now for engine rpm at 60. i daily drive this car so thats important to maintain fuel mileage and noise comfort. 2nd, the 6 speed vs the 5 speed gives me close ratio 1-4. What this means to me is that i get less gear separation which also mean that i dont drop from 6k to 3500 on the 1 2 shift or the 2 3. So from what ive gather thanks to that paladin thing. 3.90s and t-56 means ill drop right on peak torque every shift 1-4 6k shift drop right to 4100ish, and on top of that, the steeper first gear with the 3.90s gives me the same first gear ratio as i have now, meaning i can drive it pretty well outta the hole with a 2.0 60 on street tires same as i did with the previous tranny. So i know everyone wants steeper cuz its better blah blah blah, but unless i did math wrong this will work perfect for my current set up.
