Default My buddies GTO...

(which when it breaks down will be towed by my expedition lol) will run my car by about two car lengths. He is away visiting family for a few months but when he returns i want to kick his a**, or at least tie. He has an 04 GTO with a 6spd manual. I have a 2000 GT convertible auto with a k&n, will 3.73 or 3.90 gears do the trick? supercharging is out of the question because my car will hit 100,000 miles soon and i dont want any major compression until im ready to fully rebuild the engine. Any ideas? im trying to stay within 500 dollars, i just bought a performance COP kit that i plan to install soon, from Granetelli motorsports (its actually cheaper then FoMoCo). So new cops, k&n and gears?

This is a joke right? No, $500 wont do it. You gotta pay to play. He makes 140 more Hp than you.

3 things you'll need:
Suspension
Power
Driving skills

Cheap, Fast & Reliable Pick two.

my mom has a 04 gto and i could spank that when i was bone stock. the 5.7 liter motors suck in those cars.

doing gears in your car would beat the gto off the line.

True statement, the 04 had the 5.7 still, which is not that impressive for that heavy of a car. It's about the same as a new edge, with a little more top end. BUT, if you are driving a slushbox, gears and a K&N are not going to do it for you. I would recommend Saving a little more money up, as 500$ isn't going to do it for you. A full bolt-on GT with a manual gearbox could take him, but not a slushbox with a drop in. Get some headers and a tuner and try again.

+1...and a 100 shot of nitrous! Then you'll spank him on a roll too!

Whether the gto has 250 of 500 hp doesn't matter. He's only getting beat by 2 cars. That's all that matters. So if he has a 5 speed or and auto 2 cars is two cars. Gears (especially 4.10's) should all but make the difference. That will pretty much wipes out your $500. I'd get nitrous then gears.
