I find lethal carries the most and has the easiest site to navigate. Just pick your model car on the left side of the pages.

http://www.lethalperformance.com/

You can look for your car on:

autotrader.com
&
cars.com

I guess I'm the odd ball here. This is what I'd do and probably will do next:

Fox Body Notch
Suspension
Built Rear
LSx swap, cam, heads, etc.
Built/ Stalled Auto
Big & Little with slicks and skinnies
a shot of N2O
all the supporting mods

LSx motors are cheap to get & build. They make insane power and are pretty efficient. That setup above would easilly run 10's all day on the motor, and would be a solid 9 second car on the dope. You could probably drive it anywhere and still get 20+ mpg.

IMO the foxbody is the best looking stang, and the LSx motor is an excellent choice when it comes to hp/$$.

+1 on the fox - 2 on the LSx motor

I like the fourth gen stangs the best. More specifically the 02'-04'. Also I was looking at some cars online and I can only seem to find cobra svt converts. Don't they come in a coupe? And where does the mach 1 and shelby fit on the scale? Again guys, thanks for the top notch education.

I like to keep Ford in ford but it's not an absolute. Anything GM can do, Ford can do. How it does it is the only variable.

don't get me wrong, I'm not an LSx nutswinger but what Ford motor can you buy and build for the same price as an LS1 that's going to perform and get as good of mpg? Hell you could buy and build a LS1 for a fraction of the cost of an 03/04 cobra motor and it will kill it.

IMO the 03/04 Cobra is not impressive at all. Sure they can make good power but lets look at it like this. You take the ALMIGHTY TERMINATOR which has the INCREDIBLE DOHC topped with a BIG, BAD BLOWER and backed up by an INSANE 6 SPEED, and in most cases you have a very high 12 second to low 13 second car. Now take that SAME car and pulley it, etc and start to push 450-475rwhp and guess what, in most cases you have a 12 second car still. I'd bet that MOST 03/04 Cobras that make 450-475rwhp can't get out the 12's. Anyone that thinks that's impressive, is easily impressed! Put a 450hp LSx (that you could build for cheap)in a fox and you have a 10 second car.

Hell when my 2v had the stock motor with a 100 shot, I'd have to beg 03 cobra owners to run me, and many times they'd asked for the bust. Maybe all the slow Cobras are in Louisiana, but that's just weak.

Nah, there's some slow Termi's around here too! Like you said, they put down some good dyno #'s but don't seem to back it up at the track. Don't get me wrong though, I'd love to have one, but I wouldn't trade my GT for one now.

To the OP, if I were in the market to buy an 02-04 Mustang, I would buy a Mach 1.

Here's something silly to think about, Technically, I've never lost to a Terminator or an LSx but I have lost to GT's & a Grand Am, lol.
